Building a More Welcoming Shallowford
August 2026 Update —
In August, the Great Hall ramp underwent construction as part of the Ripple Effects Capital Campaign to create a truly ADA-accessible entry. The team removed the existing concrete ramp, regraded the area to meet ADA standards, and added a new level landing near the entrance doors. An automatic door-opening button will soon make access even easier, helping everyone enter the building more independently.
For years, the Great Hall ramp has been a vital point of welcome, especially on Sunday mornings when members and visitors use the drop-off area to assist loved ones into the building. The ramp will reopen for entry once the handrails are installed, with completion currently expected in late September. These improvements are about more than construction…they are about removing barriers and creating a Shallowford where everyone is welcomed, and everyone belongs.
