Before 2022, the St. Francis school system had only one middle school and one high school to serve its 10 primary schools.
Located on the main campus in Anse-à-Galets, the St. Francis middle and high school served the most densely populated area of La Gonâve, but most rural St.
Francis students had to end their education after the 6th grade. In 2018, La Gonâve Haiti Partners voted to address this educational dead end; five years later, a second middle school, St. Marthe and St. Marie Middle School campus was built. Middle school students in class at St. M & M, and opened in the rural community of Palma. A new grade level has been added each year, and this past July 2025, the first 9th-grade class graduated with a 100% pass rate!
The school has been a smashing success for the students and their families, who begged administrators, “Please, we want to continue in our beloved school!”
